WEDDINGS.

HARTNELL—SMITIIER. A wedding of considerable interest look place recently at St Stephen’s Church, Lincoln, when the marriage was celebrated of Kathleen May Adelaide Smither, only daughter of Mr and Mrs A. J. Smither, Lincoln, and John Wakely Ilartnell, eldest son of Mr •and Mrs J. Hartnell, of Prebbleton. The Rev C. L. Wilson, vicar of Akaroa, officiated. assisted by the Rev A. 11. M’C. Acheson, vicar of Lincoln. Appropriate music was played by Miss Gray. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a long-sleeved dress of ivory embossed georgette. Her veil of ivory tulle, handsomely embroidered, was arranged with a wreath of orange blossom, with clusters of orange blossom at either side. Iler bouquet was of pink sweet peas and roses and maidenhair fern. She also wore a beautiful pendant of aquamarines, and pearls the gift of her uncle. Mr P. T. Smither. of Wellington. She was attended by two bridesmaids. Miss Kitty Farrer, a school girl friend, and Miss Bertha Hartnell, sister of the bridegroom. They wore frocks of apricot georgette and lace, their wide crinoline hats being smartly trimmed with flowers and ribbon. Both carried bouquets of apricottinted sweet peas. The little flowergirl, Margaret Carpenter, niece of the bridegroom, was daintily dressed in pale blue with a bandeaux of forget-me-notes, and carried a posy of sweet peas. Mr Walter Hartnell, brother of the bridegroom, attended as best man. and Mr Ilarold Thorne was groomsman. The guests were later entertained by Mr and Mrs Smither at the Druids’ Ilall. Lincoln, and were received by the bride's mother, who wore black faconne crepe de chine and a large black hat relieved by a brilliant ornament. Mrs Hartnell, the bridegroom's mother, wore an attractive dress of black silk celanese and a large black hat trimmed with gold. The brides grandmother. Mrs F. A. Smither, Wellington, wore a navy ensemble with smart navy hat to match. Later, when the happy couple left by motor for their honeymoon in the north, the bride wore a blue tailored costume and a fox fur, the gift of the bridegroom. Her hat was a biscuit-col-oured straw prettily trimmed. CU LLEN—KITSON. An evening wedding was celebrated recently at the Spreydon Baptist Church, Lincoln Road, when Maisie, only daughter of Mr and Mrs William Kitson, of Spreydon, and Charles, only son of Mrs and the late Mr Charles Cullen, of Petone. were united in matrimony. The officiating minister was the Rev E. E. Smith. Miss Waugh presided at the organ, and played appropriate nuptial music. The chvr^p

had been prettily decorated with beautiful flowers by friends of the bride. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful gown of ivory silver beaded georgette cut ' on classical lines. She wore the usual veil and orange blossom. Her bouquet wai of white roses and arum lilies. The bridesmaids in attendance were Misses Muriel Waugh and Hilda O'Callahan. The former wore a becoming French frock of rose pink ninon with scalloped flounces of cire lace, and carried a beautiful bouquet of pink roses' and sweet to tone. The latter wore a pretty frock of beige georgette with lace overskirt to tone, and carried a beautiful bouquet of pink roses and antirrhinums. Mr Jack Foster, of Wellington, was best man. and Mr Les Moore, of Christchurch, carried out the duties of groomsman. After the ceremony, Mr and Mrs William Kitson entertained a number of guests at the Cadena Tea Rooms, where the wedding breakfast was served. The bride’s mother received her guests in a smart navy blue charmalaine frock with hat to match. After the breakfast, numerous musical items were given, interspersed with dances. Later Mr and Mrs C. E. Cullen left for the North Island, the bride wearing a charmalaine frock with beige coat and hat to match.
