The well—known cable firm of Reuters :Ltd. is closing down its business in New Zealand. ‘ \Vhen approached for an explanation of his firm's retirement. the manager of i Reuters at Auckland, Mr L. R. Brackenrig. said he knew nothing beyond the fact that the firm ’was closing down its private cable business throughout the Dominion. Mr Brackenrig has been Connected with Reuters for over twenty-five years, and in that time has seen the price of cabling come down from several shillings a word to the present price, which, while it is 35 a word full rate, includes cheaper rates dowu to as low as 793 d 3 word at week-end.
