SHOCKS FOR STUDENTS.

BY SINBAD. This is the season of the year When students all prepare for shocks. In trembling and in anxious fear They’re waiting for their Christmas box. And one in Worcester Street can hear From countless knees the sound of knocks. When they examinations sat. For their B.A.’s and L.L.B.’s, Each thought he had beneath his hat Sufficient facts a pass to seize. They thought they had it all off pat, And were assured of their degrees. But now that the results come out, Their early confidence has flown, And they are in a lot of doubt If, when the final verdict’s known, They’ll hail it with, a joyful shout, Or give a sad and hollow groan. If in the lists their names are spied, They’ll rush to celebrate the day, But others who in vain have tried Will then be anything but gay. I notice they don’t say with pride, Like Hindu students, “failed 8.A.”
