ATHLETIC SPORTS ARE HELD AT CUST.

The Cust Athletic Sports Club’s tenth annual athletic meeting was held on the Cust Domain on Saturday. The weather cleared in the morning, resulting in a good attendance of the public. Entries were good, particularly in the cycling events, although some of the competitors from a distance did not put in an appearance. The track was somewhat heavy as the result of the recent rain, but improved during the day. Wood-chopping and sawing events, an innovation as far as the club is concerned, were well supported and attracted a good deal of interest. The officials under the presidency of Mr J. B. Struthers, and with Air P. Rowe as secretary worked well, and the events were run off expeditiously. A number of races were provided for the children. 1 he North Canterbury Pipe Band plaved selections during the afternoon. The following are the results:— 100yds Handicap (open)—A. F.
