W.E.A. SUMMER SCHOOL TO BE HELD SOON.
This year's summer school, to be held at Canterbury College, will be under the direction of Professor J. Shelley, of Canterbury College, and assisting him will be Dr J. Flight, Dr R. D. Milligan, Dr C. E. Beeby, Dr D. B. Macleod, Mr G. Lawn, M.A., and Mr J. Johnson, M.A. The subject for investigation is, “ The Nature of Progress, Social, Cultural and Industrial.” This subject should prove of great interest to those who are anxious to improve the conditions of the people, because, by the study of what has preceded, it is possible to adjust the present conditions to the advantage of the majority; or, as Mr Delisle Burns has stated, “ History is an explanation of how we come to be doing w’hat we usually do. We are interested in what has occurred chiefly because we want to understand what is occurring, and we want this again chief!}' in order to influence what will occur.” Anyone wishing to participate in the summer school may apply to the secretary of the W.E.A., Trades' Hall, Gloucester Street, Christchurch.
