TWO BOATS CHOSEN FOR SANDERS CUP TRIALS.
(Special to the “ Star.”) AUCKLAND, December 7. On account of the expense involved (about £25) the Whangarei Cruising Club has decided against sending a crew to compete in the Cornwell Cup races at Lyttelton. The selected crew volunteered to pay a portion of the expenses thamselves, but the offer was refused. Whangarei did particularly well in the races at Auckland last year, winning three and annexing the Akarana Cup. The Jellicoe boats, Yal Rona and Avalon were chosen } r esterday by the Sanders Cup Selection Committee to take part in the trial races at Auckland for the forthcoming contest. The first race was fixed for to-morrow week at 2 p.m. Should the conditions be favourable the second race will be sailed later in the day.
