FIRM RATES RULE AT WOOL SALES IN LONDON.
CONTINENTAL AND U.S. BUYERS ACTIVE. (United Press Assn. —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received December 6, 10.5 a.m.) LONDON, December 5. At the wool sales the catalogues totalled 111,800 bales. It is estimated that 37,800 bales were sold at home, 57,500 to the Continent, 3000 to the United States and that 13,500 were held over. The sales closed with the market firm, all prices being above October rates. Greasy Merinos maintained the full opening advance of 5 per cent, except for second-hand lots, which were slightly irregular. Scoureds advanced 5 per cent, and pieces and locks generally were 10 per cent better. Greasy cross-breds, after showing fuWy a 10 per cent advance, closed about 7i; scoureds 5 to 7i; slipes 7i to 10. Lambs —Merinos were fully 10 per cent higher and cross-breds 5 to 10 per cent.
