Members of the Lyttelton Harbour Board stood in silence at the board meeting to-day, as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Mr James Storry, rvho was a member of the board. Reference to Mr Storry s work was made by the chairman of the board (Mr R. Galbraith), as follows:—“You are all aware of the passing away, after a short illness, of our valued colleague and friend, Mr James Storry. It was a great shock to us all to hear of his death, as most (if not all of us) were not aware of the illness which overtook him on November 17 while on his way to the Presbyterian Church Assembly at Auckland. Those members of the board rvho were able attended his funeral last Monday, when he was laid to rest in the public cemetery of the district, Ellesmere, which he represented on this board and where he had spent so many useful and active years as a practical and successful farmer and member of local bodies. “ Our late colleague was a member of the board since February, 1909, and was chairman from May, 1921, to May, 1923. He endeared himself to all who knew him by his uprightness of character, courtesy and unselfish public service. * He always gave of his best to the service of the Lyttelton' Harbour Board and we shall miss him greatly in our counsels. " I shall move that the board express to his sister, Miss Storry. and other members of the family, its very sincere sympathy in their loss and its. deep appreciation of his service to this board and to the public of Canterbury generally.” After Mr F. I-lorrell had paid a tribute to Mr Storry, the motion was carried.
