BURNING ACCIDENT TERMINATES FATALLY

INQUEST OPENED ON CHILD AGED SIX. An inquest was opened before Mr H. A. Young, Coroner, yesterday, concerning the death of Rhoda Mary Louisa Dunstan, aged six, who died on the Christchurch Hospital as the result of burns received on November 17. The deceased was the daughter of Mr and Mrs Daniel Dunstan, of 24, Ilaast Street, Linwood. On the morning of November 17, at seven o’clock, Mr Dunstan was aroused by cries, and went to the room where his children slept. There he found that the night attire of his daughter Rhoda was in flames. He put the flames out, and called in Dr Brown, after taking the child to the residence of Nurse Duncan. From there she was taken to the Christchurch Hospital, where she died yesterday. After evidence of identification was given yesterday’s inquest was adjourned sine die.
