CITY COUNCIL WILL COLLECT ALL RUBBISH DURING HEALTH WEEK.

A meeting of the Health Week Publicity Committee was held last evening. There were present—Councillors T. H. Butterfield (chairman), Messrs A. T. Smith, J. R. De\’ereux, M. Slater, C. V. Lee, R. A. Reddell and Dr Thacker.

The chairman said that during Health Week the City Council would remove all rubbish free of charge, and in cases where residents were unable to collect the garbage the council employees would undertake the work. Dr Thacker reported that Messrs J. R. Devereux and R. A. Reddell would give advice to the public on dieting.

It was decided to write to the churches asking them to mention Health Week in their services.

The Health Week slogan, “Eat Whole Wheat Meal Bread,” was decided upon, and Dr Thacker and Mr Slater were appointed a sub-committee to elaborate on the question at the meeting of the general committee this evening.
