SHOP ASSISTANTS LOSE THEIR PURSES.

Three lady assistants of the D.I.C. had their purses stolen on Friday. They had placed the purses some distance away from the portion of the department in which they were serving. Whether or not the thief had observed them do so is a point that has not been determined.

The early bustle of the Christmas shopping kept assistants very busy during the afternoon. It was not until late in the afternoon that the assistants discovered their losses.

During the last few months the large retail establishments have been very free from shoplifters. With the advent of the busv shopping season, however, it is anticipated that watchfulness will be called for.
