“ ILLNESS HAS ITS UPS AND DOWNS.”
(Received November 28, 9.5 a.m. LONDON, November 27. The Duke of York, speaking at the Advertising Club luncheon, said: I am glad to be able to tell you that there is a slight improvement in the King’s condition this morning. As you know, pleurisy is distressing, and from the nature of his illness progress must be slow. There must be ups and downs, but progress can be made.” .(Applause.) Official circles deny the report from Bermuda that Prince George is ingNo explanation is available of the doctors’ late visit to the Palace last night, at 11.30, but it was learned at midnight that the King’s condition had not improved. The night passed without further news. M “The hopes entertained on Sunday, says the “Daily Mail,” “have not been fulfilled at present. There has been no progress towards recovery. It is realised that the King is engaged in a hard uphill fight, and his constitution is being put to a severe test. The original infection persists, and in the most favourable circumstances the battle must be of a prolonged and anxious nature.” The following bulletin was issued at 11.34 a.m., signed by Lord Dawson and Sir Stanley Hewett:— “ The King spent a more restful night.
