The death is announced of Mr John Hynd, the English champion. Mr Hynd was on holiday early in August when, he was taken suddenly unwell, and on medical advice was hurried to Manchester to be operated on for appendicitis. Unfortunately this was unsuccessful, and Mr Hyftd died on August 13, at the comparatively early age of fiftyfour. He was Lancashire champion for fifteen years, English champion in 1912, and last Easter he again won the English title without losing a game.
