The official count of the votes in the Riccarton electorate, including 71 postal votes, places Mr Kyle two votes in front of Mr A. A. M’Lachlan. The present figures are:— Kyle 4289 M ’Lachlan 4287 Thompson 1579 Informal SO The first result, excluding the postal votes, gave Mr M’Lachlan a majority of 11. The postal votes, however, give Mr Kyle a lead in the meantime. There are yet the absentee votes, totalling 504, and the declarations to be dealt with.
