SEIZED TRUCK CHAIN AND ESCAPED DEATH.

SLIGHT INJURIES RECEIVED IN SHUNTING ACCIDENT.

A 3 r oung man named George Dickie, who resides in Mayfield Avenue, Christchurch, had a narrow escape yesterday afternoon when a rake of trucks passed over him in the Lyttelton railway yard. Dickie was crossing the railway yard when he was pushed over by a truck which was being shunted. Fortunately for him, when the truck was over him, he managed to get hold of a hanging chain, by which he was dragged along for some distance till the trucks pulled up. The young man was taken to Dr B. H. Gilmour and was treated for cuts and abrasions on the legs and thigh. Fie was also suffering from shock.
