When there is no shoe-polish to be had, lemon juice makes an excellent substitute. A few drops sprinkled on black or tan shoes and rubbed briskly with a soft duster will give a brilliant polish. A Cleaning Tip.—Do you know the best way to clean glass bottles which are oo narrow for you to wash in the ordinary way? Take a little bran and put it in the bottle, then fill it up with hot water. With your hand held firmly over the top of the bottle, shake it up and down for several minutes, then empty and rinse with clean water. If stains are persistent, a little silver-sand instead of bran will probably remove them. \ To clean a wallpaper stained with grease mix some pipeclay with water and spread it over the marks. Leave for a few hours, and they should have disappeared.
