A telegraph pole in Hastings Street, Napier, just beyond the centre of the town, snapped off flush with the ground and crashed across the street at noon yesterday, states a Press Association telegram. It narrowly missed a well-laden passing tram-car. All the wires broke as the pole fell, and in consequence electric light and power and telephone connections in a limited area were affected until repairs were carried out. The pole had rotted at the pavement and was unable to bear the weight of -wires and withstand the wind blowing at the time. Barraclough’s Magic Nervine stops toothache. Is 6d. 2
