Correspondence was received from the Oamaru Trotting Club. It was decided to run a special horse train to the Oamaru meeting, leaving on Saturday and returning on Monday night. Members present expressed their pleasure at the recent appointment of three members of the association, namely Messrs F. Hickinbottom, G. S. Simpson, and H. A. Jarden to positions of handicappers to several clubs. A letter was received from the N.Z. Railway Department stating that a special horse train would run to Rangiora races leaving Sockburn at 7.50 a m. and asking the association to arrange with members to load not later than 7 a.m.
The traffic manager wrote in respect to the late running of the special horse train from Methven, stating that owing to the late loading of horses it was impossible to run the train to the appointed time. It was decided to endeavour at all future meetings to get trainers to load earlier and give the Railway Department a fair chance of running up to time.
Bankhead and Roscrea were landed from Wellington this morning.
