Flyers Stay At Blenheim In Readiness To Hop Off.
WEATHER CONDITIONS MAY PERMIT RETURN FLIGHT EITHER TO-MORROW OR FRIDAY.
(Special to the “ Star.”)
BLENHEIM, October 10. THE FLYERS were all ready to leave for Christchurch in the Bristols at mid-day to-day when an urgent message was received from Dr Kidson advising them to stand by as the weather conditions showed a likelihood of the Southern Cross being able to leave for Sydney to-morrow or Friday.
A BRIGHTER OUTLOOK. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, October 10. * 4 With the barometric pressure higher over eastern Australia than it has been for some time past, the prospects of improved conditions over the Tasman are distinctlv brighter/' said Dr Kidson this morning. “There is insufficient data at present in hand to say definitely when conditions will be good enough for a start with the return flight.” The airmen, he thought, in view of the improved weather, would be standing by ready to hop off if conditions warranted.
