ALL BLACKS HOME AGAIN.
NO DOUBT ABOUT ABILITY OF SOUTH AFRICANS, THEY SAY.
"A splendid tour.” That was the kevftote of the response to greetings made by A. C. Robilliard, H. Lilburne and P. Ward, members of the All Black team who arrived from the north this morning. Mr A. E. M’Phail, chairman of the Management Committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union and other members of the Union, as well as a number of club officials, were at the station to welcome the footballers. Ward remarked that the games were hard. There was no doubt about the effectiveness of the scrummaging. “Can they put in the boot?” he was asked. “They can do that, too,” he responded with a smile. Robilliard said it had been a verv fine tour. The play was very strenuous and there was no doubt about the ability of the South Africans. The hardness of the fields was a feature that impressed the visitors. It was not unusual for the players to be obscured by clouds of dust. The usual method was to put harrows over the ground before a match was played. The players were very glad to be home again and lost little time in making their way from the station. It is expected that the balance of the southern will arrive to-morrow morning.
