BAIL IS REFUSED ACCUSED MEN.

HAD SKELETON KEYS AND DYNAMITE. (Special to the “Star. ") DUNEDIN, October 2. At yesterday’s sitting of the Police Court John Ooory and Thomas David appeared on a charge of breaking and entering by night the warehouse of J. and A. Wilkinson and with stealing keys valued at £1 and money to the value of £l6. the property of J. and A. Wilkinson. Mr A. C. Hanlon appeared for the accused. Chief-Detective Cameron in asking for a remand for a week said that it might be necessary then to ask for a further remand as there were a number of other cases to be investigated. This was a case of safebreaking and there had been a number 'of similar cases during the past twelve months. The same two accused had already been committed for trial on a charge of safebreaking at Invercargill. Coory had been previously sentenced to five years’ imprisonment for safebreaking, but had been released after serving a little over two years on condition that he returned to his native country (Syria). However, he was still here. For some time past David had been in company with Coory. When arrested at Invercargill they had skeleton keys and dynamite in their possession. Both were remanded till October 8. bail being refused.
