“ Southern Cros. 28-9-28. SquadronLeader King-sford . Smith, Flight-Lieu-tenant Ulm, Captain Buckley and three others. 2.44 pan. Blenheim.” That is the terse entry which was recorded in the flying sheet at the Wigram Aerodrome when the Tasman flyers took off on the first hop of their return journey to Australia.
