RAILWAY OFFICER IS FAREWELLED.
An unusually large and representati\*e gathering of railway officers met in the Divisional Superintendent’s office, Christchurch, yesterday, to express their appreciation of the esteem and popularity in which Mr A. J. Pritchard is held.
Mr Pritchard, who is under orders to transfer on promotion to the District Traffic Manager’s office, Ohakune, has been in the Christchurch district during the whole of his railway career. On behalf of the local officers, Mr R. S. Kent, Divisional Superintendent, in a very appreciative speech, congratulated Mr Pritchard upon his promotion, and presented the guest with a solid leather suit-case and a smoker's companion, as a token of the general esteem in which y Mr Pritchard is held. The sentiments expressed by Mr Kent were echoed by Mr H. A. Penn, traffic branch: Mr T. Lawless, maintenance branch; Mr C. M’Kenzie, commercial branch; Mr H. M’Keown, locomotive branch; Mr P. Bond, Christchurch station staff; and Mr A. Clark, Divisional Superintendent's office staff, all of whom referred to Mr Pritchard’s unfailing courtesy, good temper and efficiency in every matter that claimed his attention. Mr Pritchard suitably replied.
