REPUBLIC URGED FOR SOUTH AFRICA.

LABOUR SUPPORTER BACKS NATIONALISTS. (United Press Assn.—By Electrio Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received September 27, 11.25 a.m.) CAPE TOWN, September 26. Despite General Hertzog’s declaration that the advocacy of Republicanism would mean disruption of the Nationalists, two clergymen of the Dutch Church are leading the extremists. The country was astonished to-day when a Parliamentarian, Mr Allen, a prominent Labour supporter, pronounced himself to be in favour of Republicanism. He added that the country would probably adjust the pursuit of the secession objective to the exigencies of the time. He urged Labour ■* supporters frankly to declare that Republicanism had not been abandoned. The probable result will be that the working class Dutch will join the Labour extremists.—Australian Press As-sociation-United Service.
