SENSATIONAL FILM WILL COME TO THE MUNICIPAL THEATRE.
No motion picture- in recent years has won more praise from the press of the world than “ Chang,” the Paramount Picture, which will commence a special season at the New Municipal Theatre next Monday. The picture has created nothing short of a sensation in practically every city and town in which it has been screened. In “Chang,” Paramount have brought to the screen life as it really is. When the picture had its world premier at the Criterion Theatre, New York, the press of that i city devoted columns of space to it.
‘ The “ New York Daily Mirror,” in a 5 special preview, stated: “’Chang’ is . a tremendous thriller. -It crescendoes . to one of the greatest climaxes ever ■ ‘shot’ by a cameraman. Its pulsating ; drama is the vivid pictorial account ■ of primitive man pitting his ingenious brain against the treachery and strength of the jungle. ‘ Chang ’ is a 1 tremendous picture.” The “ New York : Telegram” came right to the point with the following; “If. in a fsw words, you’d like us to tell you what we think of ‘ Chang/ we ll say it s 1 thrilling, incredible, a picture that just : must be seen.” The “ Exhibitors’ ; Herald.” a paper which is published J for the trade and most reliable in its 1 criticisms, stated: “If you think you have troubles, go to see ‘ Chang,’ and you will come away feeling that these are pygmy matters compared to the ’ tribulations of the jungle pioneer try. ing' to establish a home for his loved ones. If you haven’t any troubles and just, want thrills, go to see ‘Chang, and you’ll get them aplenty.” The same story was told when the picture made its appearance at the now Plaza Theatre. London. The English press, although more conservative than their American cousins, were just as loud in their praise of this remarkable film. “ Nothing like it has been seen bt- , fore,” said the “ Observer,” whilst the critic of the London “ Sunday Times v , stated; “I have never experienced any thrfll in a cinema to equal that given me by this amazing picture/' The Londpn “ Daily Mail’s ” criticisi* ■ contained the following: “Contains more real drama, more humour, mom thrills, and carres more conviction than any picture we have ever seen: ‘Chang’ must be seen to be believed.” And s® one finds the newspapers of Berlin, Pan*. Glasgow, Dublin, Sydney, Melbourne. in fact everywhere the picture has been screened, praising “Chang.’* The “ New Zealand Herald,” in a special review, stated: “‘Chang’ is a masterpiece of truly great pictures.” The Auckland “Sun”: “‘Chang* should be seen by every New' Zea- ! lander, man, woman and child.” The box plan is now open at The Bristol.
