CHILDREN RESCUED FROM BLAZING HOUSE.

Per Press Association. DARGAVILLE, August 23. Fire at 5.30 last evening partially destroyed a six-roomed house on the Awakino Road, owned by Mr J. Pershing and occupied by Mr 11. Potter. The fire had a good hold when the alarm was given. The house, a fairly old one, burnt fiercely. Mr Potter was in bed at the time of the outbreak and there were three of his children also in the house. With the assistance of a neighbour all were successfully rescued. Very few of the effects were saved. The house was insured but the amount is not available. There was no insurance on the furniture and the occupant’s loss is fairly substantial.
