“ I’m quite sure the department wrote that letter,” said Mr J. D. Hall, at. a meeting of the Canterbury Executive of the Farmers’ Union when a communication was received under the name of the Minister of Agriculture. The letter explained, in reference to the transfer from Christchurch to Palmerston North of Mr A. \V. Hudson, of the Fields Pj vision of the Department, that it “ had been found absolutely- necessary to transfer Mr Hudson to the beadquarters of the division at Palmerston North in order more conventiently to direct the whole of the field experimental work of both Islands.” Several members of the executive stated that the reply was unsatisfactory. No further action was Taken.
