Messrs H. Wilkinson and H. E. Goodland, U.T.C.L., have been appointed elocution judges in the competitions of the Canterbury Band cf Hope •Union. The river sweeper has passed the old farm on Kerr’s reach, and is now heading for 13 ur wood, which should be reached in about a month's time. A continuation of the drop in the level of the river along the rowing course is causing the boating men anxiety. A still further drop is expected until the dredge- has passed Bur wood. It has been found in past years that cutting the weed at Bur wood has lowered the water level at Dudley Creek at least one foot. “Unless we can get a sensible weir in-the river, the rowing course will be in a bad way next season, and we will have to take to' flying,” said a rowing enthusiast this Morning. i
