THE PHILLIPSTOWN KINDERGARTEN.
The monthly meeting of the committee of the Phillipstown Free Kindergarten was held on Tuesday. Mrs Griffiths presided. It was decided to hold a combined committee meeting on Monday evening next, to discuss arrangements for the coming fete in November, and to elect committees. A
“hard-up” evening social has been arranged by the parents’ committee for the next fortnight. Miss Suckling reported a good attendance for the last month. The number on the roll had increased to 79. the highest attendance being 65 and the lowest 16, with an average of 55. Subscriptions for the month amounted to £4 6s lOd. During the month visitors to the kindergarten were Miss Howden, teacher from the Mental Defectives’ School, Sydney, and Mrs Koe, who intends shortly to open a kindergarten at Geraldine. Both were very much impressed with the children and their work.
During the month the committee invited the mothers and members of the ladies’ committee to an afternoon social. There were quite a number of mothers present. The students gave a short programme of songs and games, after which afternoon tea was served.
