DANGEROUS WORK.
To the Editor. Sir,—M\* attention has been called lately to the number of men working in the cit3' in high, dangerous places, painting, and on ladders, putting up electric light wires. At times I have watched, expecting at any moment to see someone lose hold and crash down. I think these men should be equipped with safety belts. No man should be asked to rely on cool-headedness in such risky work. Climbers are guarded against accident by being tied together with a rope, and I think it is onl> r right that men who risk their lives every da\ r in steeplejack work should have their dangers minimised. Linesmen employed by the Public Works Department are supplied with safety belts, and it is time that a regualtion was introduced making the use of belts compulsory'.—l am, etc., 1 NO ALARMIST.
