THE COMPETITIONS.

TO-DAY’S RESULTS. The Competitions were continued today at the Concert Hall. Following are the resutls:— VOCAL SOLO. (Contralto. Own Selection.) Miss Leila Black (St. Albans) .... 1 Miss Rhoda Down (Sprevdon) .... 2 Miss Ada Anderson (Sydenham) 3 -TO-NIGHT’S PROGRAMME. A novel item for the concert by finalists this evening in the City Concert Hall will be the saxophone solo. This is the first festival at which this class has been included, and the audience will probably find something interesting in hearing this instrument in solo work. T\vo other classes which should create considerable interest are the ladies’ solo with obligato, and the ladies’ song in character. In each case there are entered vocalists who are sure to give a good account of themselves. Among other classes .to be decided are the .men's vocal scholarship, national dance (under fourteen), ladies’ character recital, piano solo (own selection), vocal scholarship (under twenty-one), character duo (under twelve), children's dialogues, and the mens’ sacred solo. Day sessions will be held in the Concert Hall at 9.30 a.m. and 2 p.m. The competitions will conclude on Wednesday, and demonstration concerts will follow in the Concert Hall on Thursday. Friday and Saturday evenings, with a matinee on Saturday afternoon. The box plans are at The Bristol.
