SURPRISE PARTY.
On Saturday evening a large number of friends paid a surprise visit to Mr and Mrs J. Fitzgibbon in their new residence, Rangiora. The evening was spent in games, dancing, competitions and progressive euchre, the prizes being won by Mrs S. Ryan and Mr C. Lyons, the consolation prizes going to Mrs G. Brady and Mr R. Catherwood. Competitions were won by Misses K. Kennedy, Molly and Norah Fitzgibbon. Musical items were given as follow: Pianoforte solos. Misses K. Cassidy, E. Carroll, A. M’Grath; recitations, Misses E. Brady, M. songs, Mr K. Cassidy: pianoforte duet, Misses M. and N: Fitzgibbon; violin solos, Mr T. Joyce. Mr G. Brady asked Mr and Mrs Fitzgibbon to accept a seagrass chair, accompanied by good wishes for evenhappiness in their new home. Mr Fitzgibbon suitably responded. Supper was served by the ladies, and a happy evening was brought to a close with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne/’ Among the many present were:—Mesdames J. Fitzgibbon, G. Brady, W. M’Grath, N.
