Miss M. Tate (Auckland) is staying at Warner’s Hotel. Mrs Tonks has returned to Christchurch from Timaru. Mrs L. B. Jordan, Innes Road, is visiting her son at Timaru. Mrs J. Guthrie, Holly Road, has returned to Christchurch from Otira. Miss Fay Balliil left last evening for Hamilton and Auckland. Mrs C. H. Knight and her two daughters are visiting Akaroa. Mrs Frank Graham (Heaton Street) left last night for a fortnight s visit to Wellington. Miss M. O. Stoddart (Cashmere Hills) has returned from Wellington, where she spent a short holiday. Mrs Richard M’Laren returned to Christchurch last evening from Dunedin. Mrs A. King, Ilolmwood Road, Fetv dalton, is spending a holiday in the south. Miss W. Browne, of Sumner, who has been spending a holiday in Timaru, has returned to Christchurch. Miss W. C. Williams, of Redcliffs, returned to Dunedin yesterday from Christchurch. Mr and Mrs W. Lewis, Johannesburg 1 , arrived in Christchurch this morning and are staving at" Warner's Hotel. Mrs W. G. Fry (Feilding) arrived in Christchurch this morning, and is the guest of her sister, Mrs Goxving, Chester Street West. Mrs W. L. Jamieson, who for several months has been residing in Palmerston North, arrived in Christchurch this morning and is staying at -St Elmo. Mr and Mrs R. L. Mac Alister, Wellington. who were in Christchurch for a few days, left by car this morning for Kaikoura en route to the North Island. Misses Georgina Telford and Mabel Moore, who have been spending their term holidays with Miss Dulcie Moore, “Hollowdene,” Barry's Bay, returned to Christchurch yesterday. Mr and Mrs R. Westwood and daughter (Melbourne) who are touring the Dominion, have returned to. Christchurch after, visiting Mr and Mrs J. Retallick, “Banyena,” Amberley. Mrs T. J. M’Bride (Christchurch), Mr and Mrs E. F. Nicoll and Mrs J. B. Nicoll (Ashburton), and Mr and Mrs B. R. Redding ISydney) are guests at the Clarendon Hotel. Latest arrivals at the Hotel Federal include:—Mr and Mrs Sydney T. Hayes (Melbourne) ; Miss N. D. Sherwin, Mrs Allen (Christchurch) ; Mrs M. S. Mottram (Hokitika) ; Mr E. H. Drew (Dunedin) : Mr C. F. J. Smith Mr E. A. W. Smith, Miss Smith (Kaikoura) ; Mrs Buchanan (Havelock North); Miss P. Fell, Master Fell (Nelson). On Saturday evening Misses Thelma and Mavis Cairns gave an enjoyable party at their home, Barbadoes Street, St Albans. The evening was spent in games and dancing. Musical items were given by Misses V. Gray, J. Roi and Mrs J. H. Clark. Among those present were: Mr and Mrs W. Cairns, Mrs J. 11. Clark, Misses V. Gray, V. Snooks, L. Cook. M. Cairns, J. Le Roi, E. Hill, T. Cairns, M. Snooks, N. Ozanne, and H. Eastgate; Messrs E. Powell, J. M’Dougall, D. Richardson, S. Powell, F. Watson, 11. Grax r , R. Powell, R. M’Dougall and Reg Cairns. Recent visitors to “ Reynox,” Oxford, include:—Mrs Harold (Tinwald), Misses Waller (Merivale), Jessie E. C. Hope (Rotherham), M. Bennett (Beckenham), Hilda Kenworthv (Otaki), Amy Hardy (Fendalton), V. H. Park (Christchurch), Olive Jacobsen (Spreydon), Mina Macrae (Westport), Hilda Kay (Christchurch), Daisy Hawkins (St Martins), Rita Richards (Merivale), Dorothy Beattie (Opaxva), Ida Ilillier (Ashburton), Edna Hulme (Ashburton), Chrissie Talbot (Fairlie), In wood (Southbridge), Rev R. Newcombe (Sydenham), Messrs Roy D. Carew (Spreydon), and Allan Martin (Kaiapoi). Recently the ladies of the St Martins Tennis Club entertained the ladies of the Beckenham Club at an all-day tennis match, play commencing at eleven and finishing at four. The scores were equal. Lunch and afternoon tea were provided and a very happy time was spent, the weather being perfect* Beckenham was represented by Mesdames Irwin, Storrie, Spence, Clark, Henderson and Spence, Misses Campion, Manning and Wright. St Martins players were Mesdames Bradford, Balfour, Elmes, Gibson, Hassall, Thompson and Muir. Other members present were Messrs Brown, Turner and R. Bradford.
