MAURICE MOSCOVITCH IN “ THE RINGER.”
The J. C. Williamson. Ltd., management announce the reappearance in Christchurch, at the New Municipal Theatre, on Wednesday, May 30, of the dramatic star. Mr Maurice Moscovitch. with a production for the first time here of Edgar Wallace’s mystery drama. “The Ringer.” which is being played by no fewer than six different com panies in America, and which broke known records for drama during its sixteen weeks’ season in Sydney, and fifteen weeks in Melbourne. “The Ringer” is said to be one of the best constructed and most thrilling dramas staged during recent years. Like all Edgar Wallace's productions, whether on the stage or in book form, the mvstery is remarkably well conceived, arid the solution is not apparent until the brilliant climax to Act .IV. In this connection the management respectfullv request patrons not to divulge to their friends the secret of the identity of “The Ringer.” Maurice Moscovitch. it is said, has scored one of his greatest triumphs in “The Ringer.” He presents his own conception of the role of Maurice Meister, and critics in Australia were unanimous in declaring that in it he shows his dramatic genius at its very best. Included in a strong supporting com pany are Mr Patric C urwen, Mr Nat Madison, Miss Mary MacGregor and Miss Bertha Riccardo. also Mr Ashton Jarrv, Reginald Newson, George Blunt ‘and Guv Hastings. During a brief season "The Terror” will also be staged. The box plans will be opened on Monday next.
