WEAPON WAS NOT PROPERLY CONNECTED

As the result of a shooting accident, John Keig. aged nineteen, lost his left eye. _ Mr Keig, who is a son of Mr E- Keig. of-Kermode Street (manager of the Ashburton Dairy Factory) was in the river-bed shooting on Sunday, when the accident happened. He was carrying his gun in pieces and put it together prior to shooting. The gun. however, was not properly connected when the shot was fired, and the charge exploded in his face. Mr Keig went to Christchurch on Tuesday and last everting it was found necessary to remove the injured eye.
