NORTH CANTERBURY CENTRE HAS MEETING. _ A meeting of the North Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Athletic and *£’ c,,| 2* r Cm°n was held last night. J» the absence of the president, Mr W J Walter, through sickness, Mr J. M. Coffey presided. Others present were Messrs C. Stuart, J. H. Parsons, J Fitzpatrick, W. Cole, P. Power, W. Scott O, Henderson, C. M. Kavanagh, T. * P O'Rourke, F. C. Vaughan, O. r>. Wheeler. W- 1 C- Miller and P. C. Lucas (secretary). The newly-formed Clarkeville Cycling Club was granted affiliation and’ the delegate, Mr F. C. Vaughan, was welcomed to the centre meeting. A permit was granted to the Christchurch Athletic and Cycling Club to hold an open road race on June 30. Ap application for a 100 miles road race to be held on September 8 around the Ashley and Waimakariri gorges, to be ! known as the South Island championship, was deferred until the next meeting of the centre. Jt was decided <tto fake part in the jubilee celebrations procession to be held on May 28. The matter of holding the Timaru to Christchurch road race was discussed and a resolution was passed that the race he held as u.«*ial this year, the exact date of the race to be fixed at a later
