Copies of three motion picture films "taken recently by the Government photographer have been presented to the Canterbury Progress League by the Government Publicity Department. One of the films is entitled “ The Golden Harvest,” and it shows the harvesting of various crops by up-to-date methods. “ The Cathedral City,” which shows interesting scenes in Christchurch, is the title of another film. The third film deals with modern road construction by the Wairewa County Council. This was taken when the photographer visited Little River for the purpose of obtaining views of cocksfoot harvesting. On arrival at Little River it was found that the road was being reconstructed by up-to-date methods, and on the suggestion of Mr P. R- Climie, organiser for the Progress League, several views of the work were taken. Mr T. Thompson, chairman of the Wairewa County Council, is shown in this film. Mr Climie intends to make arrangements for the films to be screened in Christchurch shortly, and it is probable that he will have them shown in a number of the country districts.
