Owing to no representatives of the Riccarton Borough Council attending, the conference between representatives of the City Council, Tramway Board, and the Riccarton Borough Council, which was arranged to be held yesterday afternoon for the purpose of discussing proposals for the reconstruction of Riccarton Avenue, was allowed to lapse. Messrs J. Wood, J. A Flesher and M. M. Wright (engineer) attended on behalf of the Tramway Board, and Messrs G. R. Hunter (chair man of the Works Committee) and A. R- Galbraith (City Engineer) represented the City Council. An informal discussion took place, the City Council representatives intimating that, provision would be made in the council’s estimates for regrading, metalling and tar-sealing the road from the Hospital corner to the Riccarton Hotel, the work to be carried out during the present year.
