BEAM AND CABLES MAY BE HANDED OVER TO MARCONI’S.

GOVERNMENT WILL RETAIN COMPLETE RIGHT OF CONTROL. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, May 15 The Parliamentary correspondent of the “ Daily Telegraph ” saj r s that a belief, which is not entirely confined to Labour circles.- has prevailed in Parliament for some days that the conference which is examining cables and beam wireless has arrived at conclusions of a far-reaching character, and the impression is that tine conference will eventually recommend the transfer of beam wireless and certain cable services to Marconi's and the Eastern Telegraph Company. It is understood that the decisions of the conference will be submitted to the dominions. The report cannot be completed until replies are received. It is stated in Ministerial circles that should such a transfer be accomplished the Government will reserve complete rights of control in case of emergency. The Labour Party is pressing for an early day to discuss the matter. The Government will bring down an appropriate vote next week, but probably little will be revealed. Members are undoubtedly concerned to discover whether there is solid foundation for the rumours in circulation.—Australian Press Association—United Service.
