WOULD BE JUSTIFIED IN CLOSING HOSPITAL, STATES CHAIRMAN.

(Special to the "Star”). AUCKLAND, May 2. "The board would be quite justified in shutting down this hospital, and then the people would come to their senses.” said Mr W. Wallace, chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board, yesterday in referring to the Warkworth cottage hospital. “We have had more trouble in running the Warkworth hospital than the Auckland hospital.” Mr Wallace added that there had been considerable friction at Warkworth concerning the hospital and its administration. The trouble was to have been ventilated yesterday, but the board was occupied with more urgent business, and the matter will be dealt with at the next meeting, when it is expected that people from the district will be present. The board will then decide whether the hospital will be continued.
