JURY FINDS MAN GUILTY OF ASSAULT.
Ter Press Association. DUNEDIN, May 1. William Hassett was charged in the Supreme Court this morning with on or about April 15 attempting to murder Charles Arthur Lloyd. Accused was also charged with wounding Lloyd with intent to cause bodily harm, with assaulting Lloyd and with causing actual bodily harm under such circumstances that if death had occurred he
would have been guilty of manslaughter. He pleaded nofc guilty. The evidence showed that the charges arose out of a stabbing affray at Milton. It was alleged that Ilassett was annoyed because Lloyd had been paring attention to a certain young woman with whom he had formerly kept company. * For the defence Mr White argued that the stabbing had occurred accidentally during a suffle between the The jury returned a verdict of guilty on the charge of assault and accused was remanded till Friday morning. In the meantime a report is to be obtained from the probation officer.
