Totalisator Owner and Trotting Secretary Charged.

INFORMATION LAID UNDER GAMING ACT—CASE ADJOURNED SINE DIE.

CHARGES under the Gaming Act were brought in the Magistrate’s Court to-day against Harold E. Goggin, acting-secre-tary of the Metropolitan Trotting Club, and W. H. M’Dougall, totalisator proprietor.

M’Dougall was charged as agent, and Goggin as servant, of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club. The charge against each was that on March 11 he did unlawfully permit to be received an investment on the totalisator otherwise than on the totalisator itself.

Mr Brown, who appeared for the Crown Prosecutor, asked that the case be adjourned sine die.

Mr Tracy, who represented defendants, agi-ecd to this course being taken. Messrs T. D. Lennie, J.P., and A. 11. Hobbs, J.P., were on the Bench.
