A Press Association message states: —Lewis P. Hulbert, agerl twenty-two, is in hospital at Ilawera suffering from a fractured skull sustained while playing for Ilawera in a senior grade Rugby match against Waimate at Manaia. An operation was performed on Saturday night, and Ilulbert was reported this morning to be making progress, though he was still in a serious condition. At Palmerston North, two young men, Ernest George Dryden and William John Coot, on charges of stealing bicycles, were. sentenced to 14 days’ gaol, the police stating that the theft of bicycles was becoming rather prevalent.
