FLOYD BENNETT LAID TO REST IN HEAVY WIND-BLOWN RAIN.
WASHINGTON PAYS RESPECT TO FLYER
(United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.:—Copyright.) ' (Received. April 28, 2.35 p.m.) WASHINGTON. April 27. With the Bremen flyers now en route here by train from New York. Floyd Bennett was buried at Arlington National Cemetery’ in heavy, windblown rain, with full military honours. His grave is close to that- of Peary. The ceremonies were simple and stern. A short service was read, “ Taps ” was sounded, and three volleys were fired. Bennett’s wife and mother, Commander R. E. Byrd, and naval and other officials were present. The entire capital paid its respect to the flyer. Wreaths from the Bremen men were placed on the grave.—Australian Press Association.
