Nationalists’ reports have confirmed the statement that General Feng Yuhsiang entered Tsinan, the capital of Shantung, on April 24, following the complete annihilation of the Northerners' Russian Brigade. General Chang Chung-chang is fleeing to the sea. Reports from Mukden state that General Chiang Kai-shek reports the capture of 125 cannon and 65,000 rifles. Considerable anxiety is felt for the safety* of foreigners, who, disregarding the Consular warnings, stayed in Tsinan, being there, it is believed, when the city fell prior to the arrival of sufficient Japanese forces adequately to protect all foreigners. Dr Walter Seymour, of the American Presbyterian Mission at Tsining-fu, who has been in the Southerners’ hands for ten days, is reported to have been shot and killed on April 16 or April 17.
