HARMONIC CONCERTS.

To the Editor. Sir, —Will you please allow me space to express an opinion in regard to the concerts given by the Harmonic Society last week, and in this I am not alone, as quite a number of people have expressed the same views. It is my privilege to be a member of this very worthy society*-, and enjoy the concerts immensely, but I believe that the second half of last week’s concerts could have been improved by carrying on with a similar programme to the first half, the “Hymn of Praise” in the second half being far too heavy and drawn out, although recognised as being very beautiful music. This opinion appears to be fairly general, and is borne out by the fact that the most enthusiastically received items during the evening were the part songs “Beware” and “King Arthur,” rendered in the first half. Trusting the committee and conductor will give these views, consideration for futurA concerts—l am, etc., SUBSCRIBER.
