TRAMPING CLUB HEARS LECTURE ON CLIMBING.

A meeting of th» Christchurch Tramping Club (Inc.) was held on Monday night, when Professor Speight presided over an attendance of about thirty members and friends.

Mr W. A. Kennedy delivered a lecture on climbing, illustrated by lantern slides. He dealt with the various types Of climbing encountered in our mountains, rock, ice and snow. Mr Kennedy also stressed the value of mountaineering as a sport, and his hints, dictated by experienced, were . greatly appreciated. During supper. Mr Wildey showed his paintings of the headwaters of the Waimakarlri, most of which were made during the recent Easter trip of the club. A few photos of this trip were also shown, and the attempt to climb Mount Carrington was described by Mr Tucker.
