Details of the floods at Dawson show that there was a phenomenal fall of 4285 points of rain at Struck Oil, situated at the head of the Mount .Morgan dam, which caused a huge volume of water to rush from the dam. At Wura the water, which resembled a vast sea, came down with terrific speed, leaving an enormous lane through the country. The damage done is incalculable. The Postmaster-General has received advices that, as the result of further floods in Queensland, Capricorn, Sea Hill, Rann, Baralaba, Billoela, Thangool. Cam boon and Wo wan are entirely cut off from telegraphic communication.—Australian Press Association. FLOODS IN AMERICA. NEW YORK, April 24. It is reported from Mobile that tributaries of the Mississippi are again overflowing, and have caused grievous distress in many sections of Alabama and other States. The flood waters have already driven hundreds of persons from their homes, and large numbers are believed to be evacuating lowlyingf sections. Reports from the stricken area are very meagre, and no reliable statistics are at present obtainable. It is learned, however, that the streets of Brewton, Alabama and neighbouirng cities are flooded from four to six feet deep. Many families at Brewton were forced to find shelter in the Courthouse. All houses in the valleys are abandoned.— Australian Press Association.
