Charles Woodward pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court this morning to ’the fourth charge of drunkenness preferred against him in the last six months. “ Can you see your way clear to send me to the island, sir” asked accused of Mr C. R- Orr-Walker, S.M., who was on the bench. “He means the Salvation Army Home, sir,” said Major Barnes, of the ArmyThe Magistrate: Oh, I thought he meant the Government institution. The police said that the accused was getting an habitual drunkard and they recommended a prohibition order. Accused was ordered to pay expenses, 2s 9d. He consented to a prohibition order being issued against him. Major Barnes said that the man would be taken in by the Salvation Army, should he so desire.
