TIMBER WORKERS CLAIM INCREASED WAGES

(Special to the “Star.”) GREYMOUTH, April 26. Conciliation Council proceedings in connection with the West Coast timber workers’ wages proved abortive, and the matter was referred to the Arbitration Court. The union desired a £5 10s minimum, but the employers would not agree to increase the present minimum of 15s a day. An agreement was reached on the conditions of work.
